principles of our work

At Jempe Center we support our clients to awaken to their true and vital self.  Our approach is grounded in these guiding principles (click on each to expand).

  • Dignity

Human beings are built to seek dignity, to be seen and understood, and to be a contribution to the community and the world outside the self. We hold our clients with dignity and respect, while raising their capacity to make the impact on the world that they desire.

  • Curiosity

Curiosity is fundamental to learning, to developing compassion, and to opening new possibilities. No matter how committed one is to learning and developing mastery, one feels vulnerable when faced with admitting what we don’t know when in a situation that has us realize we are a beginner. We guide our clients to step into that uncomfortable place of not knowing, to surrender their defenses, and to become curious and self-accepting learners.

  • Freedom

The past lives in all of us in ways that limit our freedom to be our boldest selves. These limitations can restrict our ability to understand others, to be creative, to confront unpopular truths, or to take a stand for what we believe. We empower our clients to be free of the past and more powerful and alive in the present.

  • Responsibility

When things do not go the way we hope or want, our natural tendency is to blame others or the circumstances. Though it may seem to help us, blaming essentially removes us from responsibility for the outcome. At the Jempe Center, we help our clients learn to take 100% responsibility for their role in the face of any circumstances.

  • Embodiment

We believe that the best way for someone to understand a new idea or learn a new skill is to integrate it emotionally, mentally, and physically, in the body. Our clients embody their learning – and respond skillfully when significant challenges arrive – when they have cultivated insight, taken action, and physically practiced their new skill.

  • Congruence

We work with our clients to develop a coherence between who they say and believe they are, how their actions reveal who they are, and who others say they are. We believe that the foundation of trust lies in congruence between one’s emotions, words, and actions, and that this is one of the essential elements of fulfillment.

  • Practice

We believe that practice is the key to mastering new skills. Whether practicing a way of being, relating, leading, learning, or something else, we are all continually in practice. We help our clients notice what they've been practicing and make choices about the practices that will help them realize their goals.

  • Home

We seek to guide our clients home to their true selves, toward what they love, and to express their natural ways of being both personally and professionally. We do not attempt to “fix” anyone, rather to illuminate a path that is congruent with their true selves.
